10 November 2017 - The Graphs and Algorithms Conference (JGA) 2017

The JGA (Journées Graphes et Algorithmes) brings together every year, this year for the 19th time, the French speaking community of researchers in the theory and algorithms of graphs.
It is an opportunity for different research teams to present their notable results of the year. The participants are traditionally young researchers, doctoral students or post-docs. This year, the three invited speakers are Gwenaël Joret, Eunjung Kim and Kolja Knauer.
For more information consult the programme here.

25 September 2017 - Death of Maurice Nivat

It is an exceptional person who has recently left us. Known as one of the fathers of theoretical computer science, Maurice Nivat, emeritus professor at Paris-Diderot, died on 21/09/2017. A strong and likeable personnality, he has left us a scientific inheritance of major importance. During his brilliant career, Maurice Nivat also trained numerous researchers - André Arnold, Pierre Castéran and Bruno Courcelle to mention only members of our laboratory.
His portrait here.

8 September 2017 - IRIM 2nd at the TRECVID2017 INS task

The GDR ISIS IRIM consortium grouping several French laboratories, has participated for several years in the international evaluation TRECVID.
This campaign proposes research taks in analysis, indexing, and automatic content extraction on massive video data.
One of the tasks: INS « Instance Search » consists of finding objects, and people in predefined contexts in these massive video datasets (475K plans of a total duration of 435 hours this year).
The IRIM consortium, coordinated by the LABRI (Boris Mansencal, Jenny Benois-Pineau), composed of CEA-LIST, LIMSI, LISTIC and LIG, finished in 2nd place out of the 7 international teams participating on the INS task in 2017.
